Travel to Courmayeur

Have you thought about your travel to Courmayeur now that you have booked your ski holiday? One component that can make or break how much you enjoy your holiday is planning ahead to make sure that your travel arrangements once you reach Courmayeur are taken care of. So, before you take off on your winter holiday you may want to think about Courmayeur travel plans for when you arrive whether you fly, drive or train.

Without a doubt the best way to travel to Courmayeur is booking a car hire on arrival at the airport. Although there are other options that you can take advantage of both when you arrive at the airport, and once you are in the ski resort area.

There are two things that you need to look at when you are planning your Courmayeur travel. The first thing that you need to think about is how you are going to get from the airport that you fly into over to the Courmayeur ski resort area.

Travel to Courmayeur from the airport

All four of the airports that you can choose to fly into in order to get to Courmayeur are within an hour to two hours drive from the ski resort area, but you will need to arrange to book a charter bus, taxi or train.

The railway station is not in Courmayeur but is located in Pré-St-Didier, which is just 5 km from Courmayeur; Train's run direct from several cities including Turin and Milan and are frequent during the season.

The SAT bus company offer a route from Chamonix train station, (convenient for Eurostar connections and connecting to Geneva airport) that passes through the Mont Blanc tunnel to reach Courmayeur.

Other options for getting to the Courmayeur ski resort from the airports is to take a taxi ride or simply book a car hire. Taxi Lavalle is a large taxi company operating throughout the area offering airport shuttle services and trips to cities and resorts all over the region.

While there are many taxi services that offer a flat fee for the trip, for what you will pay in order to get there and back you may find that you might as well have booked a car hire if your trip is a week or less in duration. This allows you the flexibility and ease of getting around the resort area.

Additionally, while there are public transportation options once you are in Courmayeur, they are not the best and not as dependable as most people would like. Thus, you may find yourself relying on taxi rides to get around the village and nearby attractions, or waiting for scheduled charter trips which can be inconvenient if you want to maximise your stay.
